Sweet Hair

Lets see I have two I guess I would call them "goals"
1. I can't dye or cut my hair until Katie does
2. No sweets for a month started 2/23 ends 3/23 (Celice started it, and I followed)

So I have been doing ok on the 1st one, but my roots are getting bad : ( So far so good though, I think my hair will eventually be naturally blonde so I am happy that hopefully I will not have to color it again until I go gray or it starts getting mousey. And it's getting longer (my hair grows so slow) I've been told if you aren't coloring your hair it will grow faster, and I'm also taking Biotin (when I remember) thats supposed to help it grow faster.

And the 2nd one was basically just to ween myself off sweets (I have been eating a dessert after like each meal) I need to be in swim suit shape this summer (I have no excuse this year) I don't want to look like a frumpy mom anymore!

I must confess though I accidently ate 2 peanutbutter m&m's today while visiting with Katie! I was just standing there beside her table and was talking and I just picked them up without thinking and ate 2 before I realized what I was doing. It's no big deal, but it's crazy how it's just a habbit and we do these things without even thinking (eating junk) So I guess this means I have to start over???

After the sweet month is over (if I can ever get through it) I might go for Cokes. I only drink cokes if I go out to eat (we don't have them at home because we would drink them all the time) So it may not be that hard.

Relaxing Weekend... LOL

What a great weekend we had. Kobi was staying at my dad's for the weekend so we decided it was a great opportunity to get some things done around the house (last minute thought) I have
been looking for an armoire to paint to go upstairs in the gameroom. The tv stand currently up there is not the safest for a crawling and soon to be toddling baby. I can just see her crawling under it and it collapsing on top of her. So that thought got stuck in my head and I was determined to find a fix for it and fast! I had been looking on Craigslist the last part of last week trying to find a cheap solid wood armoire I could paint. And after a few days I found one that I thought would be great the only problem it was over an hour away and we would have to get out Kyle's dad's trailer and go all the way out there Saturday am, which would take up a lot of the day that I could be working on fixing it up. So we woke up Sat morning and started getting ready to leave to go pick it up and we thought well maybe we should look on Craigslist one last time to see if maybe something was more in the area. And there it was the perfect armoire for $100 and it was only a mile away! So I called right away (it had just been listed that am) the lady said she had someone coming out that afternoon to pick it up. We couldn't let it getaway so we offered $50 more dollars and said we would come right away. And of course they said yes : ) So instead of going 30 min out of the way to go get the trailer we called our wonderful friend and asked to borrow their truck. (Thank you so much Celice!) So we picked it up and went straight home to see what needed to be done to fix it up the way we wanted! After a couple trips to Lowes and two of their hot dogs (they have the best hot dogs ever) and some advice from their knowledgeable specialists we go all the instructions we needed to get started!

It actually wasn't that hard at all, just time consuming.

1. Apply de-glosser (finish remover, it's like nail polish remover)
2. Sand lightly (thanks for the Electric sander Celice it went much faster)
3. Paint on primer
4. Apply paint (a couple of coats)

It basically took 1 day on off waiting for it to dry to complete it, the next day we put all the doors and shelves back on an it was done!

We also installed our entry way chandiler and living room fan that we have been waiting for. (we had to borrow a 20 ft ladder from a lighting store to be able to install both)

Finished armoire (it's hard to tell but it's a light blue)

Mission Possible

I've been looking a lot on Etsy at appliqued designs, and I always thought it would be so difficult. I always fear doing anything on the sewing machine besides a straight line, heck I've only just started sewing back in August. But I saw a shirt that was so cute I had to try it on my own!

And here's what I made, I used a couple plain tops she had laying around and turned them into much more!

Machine Appliques

Things you need:

Shirt, bottoms, hat, etc.
Fabrics
Liquid Stitch or pins
Pinking Sheers (prevents raveling)
Coordinating Thread

1. Draw design on the WRONG side of the fabric
2. Cut out design with regular scissors
3. Cut design with Pinking Sheers
4. Use liquid stitch to adhear design on shirt, let dry 10 min or so.
5. Use a zig-zag stitch and stitch around entire design.

And your done! How easy was that?

Poor Little Girls

"This is actually a real pageant pic of a little girl; that I'm sure was much cuter without all the make-up, hair pieces, tan, and photoshop."

Ok I was watching this show tonight "Little Miss Perfect" on WE, and I was utterly disgusted so I had to vent...

This really makes me sick, that these babies yes a lot of them are under the age of 5, are dressed up like this! These girls wear more make up and look older than I do! No wonder there are sicko pervs that get off on little girls! These girls are made up to look like little tramps and then go out on stage in a tiny swimsuit or dress and shake their hips and pucker up and blow kisses to the audience!

This was a quote from one of the pageant moms, "There's no difference in my girl doing pageants than a little boy putting football pads on or a little cheerleader. " HaHa yeah there is they don't look like mini adults, and they actually have talent!

Some of the moms also take their kids to tanning salons and have their hair bleached when they are barely in Kindergarten.

Another pageant mom said, "Don't ever say you wouldn't put make-up, hair pieces and tak your daughter to get a tan, because you will, I did!" I can guarntee that you will never see Makayla in one of those SICKO PAGEANTS!!!

Cake Sandwich's!

*This plate was one of my Christmas presents, I love them!!!

I made these for the first time last night, and they turned out great! They were super easy to make!

Cake Sandwich

  • 1 box of your favorite cake (I used Red Velvet)
  • 1 box instant pudding
  • 1 tub of icing

  1. follow directions on box EXCEPT use 3/4 cup water instead and pour in 1 small package of instant pudding (depending on what kind of cake box your using vanilla or chocolate) (I used chocolate pudding in the red velvet box)
  2. Heat to specified temp
  3. Spoon out drops of cake batter on a parchment or foil covered cookie sheet. (this may take several cookie sheets)
  4. Bake 10-13 min (I put 3 cookie sheets in at the same time so it took about 25 min to cook fully)
  5. Stick a toothpick in one of the "cakes" to make sure they are cooked throughly.
  6. Let the "cakes" cool then spread icing on the bottom of one of the "cakes" and sandwich with another one. (I used a whipped icing so it wasn't so sweet, but use whichever you like best) And your done!!! 1 box of cake makes about 10-12 Cake Sandwich's.

Yummy!

Today was a great day! I actually got up early and took a shower before I took Kobi to MDO (this rarely ever happens) I guess I usually look pretty bad when I take him, because everyone kept saying "oh wow you look great!" hhhhmmmmm....

Makayla had her 9 month check up, and all was well! She is now 19.5 lbs and 27"(big girl) She is on track with all her milestones, and didn't have to get any vaccinations, but she did have to get her finger poked for an anemic test (which was a lot worse than a shot) poor think! This a pic of Makayla BEFORE her trip to the "finger pricker"

Kobi had a Valentine's Party at school today and had a great time! We had made little Valetine's for his friends the night before and made his teachers chocolate covered pretzels's with valentien's sprinkle's! He made a paper sack covered in coloring and stickers, he called it his "doody bag" (Goody Bag.) He has carried that thing around all day since school but he was very good and didn't eat his Valentine's Candies!

We ended the afternoon making a Homemade Peach Cobbler to take over to Kyle's dad's for dinner! This is the best recipe I have eer found for a Peach Cobbler:

Easy Homemade Peach Cobbler

2 bags frozen peaches
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup water
i stick butter
1 1/2 cups SELF-RISING flour (must use self-rising)
1/2 cup milk
Ground Cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Combine thawed peaches, 1 cup sugar, and water in skillet and mix well. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 min. Remove from heat.

Put the butter in a 3-quart baking dish and place in oven to melt

Mix remaining 1 cup sugar, flour, a teaspoon of ciccamon, and milk slowly to prevent clumping. Pour mixture over melted butter and do NOT stir. Spoon fruit on top, gently puring syrup.

*Batter will rise to top during baking.

Bake for 30-45 min.

*And for best results serve warm with Vanilla Ice Cream!

We had a wonderful night visiting with Eric and Renata over the best BBQ! The kids even got to take a bath in the Giant Laundry Room Sink!
Kobi and Pepaw decided it would be fun to throw foam blocks off the top of the balcony. hhhmmmm I hope Kobi doesn't think he can do this at home! lol
Now I'm off to spend the rest of the night icing cake sandwhich's for Valentine's and watch Grey's/ Private Practice, and hope the weather holds for tomorrow's trip to the ZOO!!!

Valentines and more!

"Kids Say the darndest things"

I'm not sure how the convo started out but somehow led into Kobi saying he wanted a baby brother. I think because he called Scout (my moms dog) his brother and I corrected him and said he is a dog and cannot be your brother. lol Anyway he then told me that he is going to have a baby brother from daddy's belly! hhhhhhmmmmm.......
BTW I do not necessarily agree with this-----> But I couldn't resist adding it!

On another note we had a little Valentine's Craft party at my mom's on Friday. Kobi and my grandmother made heart people out of pipe cleaners, I wish I had a pic they were so cute! We also made these Valentine's. They are heart flowers made out of foam with a sucker in the middle, you can't read the writing, but it says "I'm a sucker for you!" Their for Kobi to hand out at school and to his other little friends. While we crafted we also snacked on these cookies we made! As you can see Makayla really enjoyed these "treats" she looks like a little puppy begging for food! BTW this was her first and last bite of a cookie for quite sometime!

These are my kiddos in the Valentine's Shirts I made for them! I love that I can create their own holiday shirts! And I already have the designs made out for their Easter and 4th Of July shirts! I think they like them too, what do you think? Although I had a hard time trying to convince Kobi to take off his Turkey shirt he mad to put this one on!

Blame it on the Dog!

Everyday it's something new from kids, I love how their minds think.

Today I have a 3 year old little visitor crawl in my bed at 6 am. He tucked himself in between Kyle and I. Then he started complaining and crying about his ear hurting. Half asleep I said what is wrong with your ear, did you hit it on something? He didn't say anything so I fell asleep a few min later he started going on again about his ear. So I woke up again and asked what happened to your ear. I was thinking he was getting an ear infection. He hasn't had one before but he did just get over a cold. Still half asleep I heard him say, "Scout did it" (Scout my mother's little puppy) I said what are you talking about Scout did it? He hasn't seen Scout since Friday. Then he said, "Scout barked in my ear and hurt it!" I just laughed quietly to myself thinking what is he talking about. So I got up and gave him some Tylenol thinking it was an ear infection. He went to sleep, and I didn't hear another word about it until Kyle asked him if his ear was ok. He said yes. But was still insisting Scout did it! So now I'm thinking he had a bad dream or something. few hours later he started complaining about his mouth hurting. Then he blamed that on the dog again saying "he barked in my mouth". So I had him call my mom and tell her what was going on. She just laughed. But I still don't get it. What does a dog have to do with his ear and mouth hurting. I would love to know what goes through their minds sometimes, but whatever I'm just happy he doesn't have an ear infection!
